Former Celtic forward Andy Walker believes Odsonne Edouard will be a popular addition to the Leicester City squad, telling Sky Sports (6 June, 8:00pm) that the striker should improve under Brendan Rodgers.

Despite being linked with the likes of Arsenal and West Ham United in recent months, it seems the presence of a certain Carnlough-born tactician on the King Power touchline could be the deciding factor as one of British football’s longest-running transfer sagas nears its conclusion.

According to the Sun, Leicester have agreed a deal in principle that will see Edouard reunite with Rodgers south of the border.

The Foxes are expected to pay a knock-down fee of £15 million, with the France U21 international’s price-tag tumbling as his contract runs down.

Can Odsonne Edouard shine at Leicester City?

Walker, himself a one-time Celtic striker, believes Leicester may be the ideal destination for a man blessed with supreme technical quality and potential by the pint glass.

“There’s rumours on Glasgow about Odsonne Edouard may be going to Leicester. I think the Leicester fans will enjoy watching him play,” Walker said.

“He’s got a lot to offer and I think, under Brendan Rodgers, he’ll only get better.”

Physically strong yet blessed with mesmeric dribbling skills, Edouard arguably has a lot more in common with a reborn Kelechi Iheanacho than he does with Jamie Vardy.

It will be interesting to see whether the former PSG youngster, who has scored over 20 goals in each of the last three seasons, is capable of playing alongside Vardy up front at the King Power or whether he will give Rodgers a different option as a lone number nine.

Edouard certainly has the flexibility to adapt to a range of different systems.
