Ally McCoist told talkSPORT Breakfast on Thursday morning that ‘the first thing’ Celtic’s new manager, Ange Postecoglou, will do is sell Odsonne Edouard following his appointment.
Celtic have just announced that the 55-year-old has been handed the reigns to the Parkhead post – four months after the club parted ways with Neil Lennon.
Sky Sports have recently reported that Leicester City could sign Edouard ‘for as little as £18 million’ this summer.
And McCoist hilariously claimed that he wishes Celtic’s new boss ‘nothing’ but thinks Edouard will be out of the door, amongst others, pretty quickly.
“Let’s not kid ourselves,” said McCoist. “That man has a job on his hands. I think the first thing he is going to do is agree to terms with Leicester for Edouard’s exit.
“And there might be one or two going with Edouard, so he has got a big job on his hands.
“So, I wish him nothing but nothing,” laughed the ex-Rangers man.
The pressure cooker that Postecoglou is walking into is something he would have never felt or experienced before.
Even Steven Gerrard, a man of his playing experience, endured a number of tough moments during the early stages at Rangers.
But Postecoglou doesn’t just have to contend with lifting the pretty glum mood over Parkhead, but winning back the Premiership title and having to deal with players at the club who don’t want to be at Celtic.
And the simple truth is that if he doesn’t start well then he won’t be there for that long.
