Arsenal are ready to pay Sassuolo’s asking price for Manuel Locatelli, according to a report in Gazetta.
Arsenal have been heavily linked with the central midfielder in recent times, and it now seems that they are ready to follow through with their interest.
The Gunners are apparently willing to offer £34 million for the 23-year-old, which would represent a significant investment from Mikel Arteta’s side.
Locatelli, who was hailed as ‘quality’ and a ‘bargain’ by Sassuolo teammate Francesco Magnanelli this week (TMW), could be an impressive addition for Arsenal though and at his current age, he still has room to develop.
Euro 2020 star
The central midfielder caught the eye in Italy’s first game at Euro 2020, as his nation picked up a 3-0 win.
Arsenal may well have been convinced by that display from the Serie A midfield man, as it appears they have decided to pull the trigger, and are close to making a bid.
If Arsenal did sign Locatelli they would finally put to an end their search for a partner for Thomas Partey.
Arsenal have made signing a new midfielder a priority this summer, and it appears that Locatelli is emerging as their first choice target, if reports in Italy are to be believed.
