One of the players Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool have been linked with this summer is Barcelona forward Ousmane Dembele.

Liverpool transfer rumour

Calciomercato reported in April interest from Liverpool in signing Dembele in the summer transfer window.

As we covered the story here on HITC Sport, Manchester United, Juventus and Paris Saint-Germain are also interested in the 24-year-old.

The France international has had injury problems at Barcelona, but he is a very talented footballer.

What’s the story?

Today is a big day for Dembele, as well as for Liverpool.

Because, according to Mundo Deportivo (print edition, page 15, June 15, 2021), representatives of the France international will meet with Barcelona officials today.

Barcelona will explain to Dembele’s people their plan for him.

The Spanish giants will offer a new deal. If it is rejected, then the La Liga outfit plan to offload him.

Barcelona will either sell Dembele or use him in a deal to sign one of their targets.

Thiago and Lionel Messi praise

Could Liverpool be tempted into making a move?

Dembele’s injury record will pose a problem, but his quality and talent cannot be doubted at all.

Liverpool midfielder Thiago rates Dembele highly.

Back in July 2019, Thiago, then on the books of Bayern Munich, said that he would love to play with Dembele for the German club.

Thiago, who joined Liverpool last summer, told Bild, as translated by Goal.com: “Dembele is a great player. But I am not the sporting director who decides if a player will be bought or not.

“As a football player and one who played against him I can say he is a very good footballer. I would like to play with all the great players who would love to come to Bayern.”

GiveMeSport quoted Barcelona forward Lionel Messi as saying about Dembele in March 2020: “His pace is frightening in training.”
